Why is sugar paste epilation called cold epilation?
Sugaring hair removal is often referred to as “cold hair removal” because the product used in this method has a much lower temperature compared to traditional wax. While soft or hard wax needs to be heated to around 40–50°C, sugaring paste is applied at a temperature close to body temperature, approximately 30–37°C (86–98.6°F).
Low Temperature – Increased Safety
Thanks to its lower temperature, sugaring paste minimizes the risk of burns and irritation, making it an excellent choice for people with sensitive skin. Unlike wax, which is often applied hot, sugaring paste can be used directly on the skin without additional heating. This is especially important for individuals prone to broken capillaries or sensitivity to heat.
Application Method and Temperature
It is worth noting that sugarring paste comes in different consistencies – from more liquid ones that can be slightly heated in warmers to thicker pastes that are softened only by the warmth of the hands. In the classic hand method (also known as the flicking method), the paste is kneaded by hand and becomes more pliable due to body heat. It does not require strips, further distinguishing it from soft wax.
Why cold epillation?
Sugaring hair removal is called cold hair removal because it does not require high temperatures for application. As a result, the treatment is gentler, less painful, and safer for the skin, making it an ideal solution for people with sensitive and irritation-prone skin.
