How does spray tanning work?

In approximately 20 minutes our trained beauty technician applies a fine mist of the Fake Bake Bronzing Solution on your body. You will get an instant natural looking tan which will be absorbed into your skin over the next 6 to 8 hours.

Liquid consists of distilled water and DHA therefore is totally safe for you and your skin. Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) is a unique substance that was discovered over 50 years ago and thanks to its steady improvement now provides excellent result in tanning and successfully competes with methods using sources of UV rays. DHA is not a colorant – it’s a sugar derivative that reacts with amino acids in the skin and oxygen in the air causing skin to turn brown, giving the appearance of a tan.

To try this reaction out by yourself, take a bite out of an apple and leave it on the side for a few hours and see how it starts to turn brown. Fake tan affects your skin in a similar way. Every day millions of dead skin cells are sloughed off or worn away from the skin surface. Actually, every 35 to 45 days you have an entirely new epidermis.

For the best Spray Tan possible, some minor preparations are advised:

exfoliate your whole body before the treatment, using a scrub that does not leave an oily film – this helps the tan last longer;
do not use any cream or oils prior to the treatment;
shave or wax at least 2 days before tanning;
do not wear any perfumes, moisturizers or heavy make-up on the day of sun tan application, as they could react with the solution and reduce its effectiveness;
try to wear dark, comfortable, loose fitting clothes if possible. It is recommended to put on neither expensive nor very tight tailored clothing after the application.
it is not advisable to do makeup on the day of tanning.

After the Treatment:

try not to touch tanned areas until the tan is thoroughly dry as the color may transfer to clothes;
avoid baths, showers, or any strenuous exercises for at least 8 hours after application as they could lead to excessive perspiration;
after 8 – 10 hours you should shower to remove the tanning preparation. Having done so you can comfortably wear all clothes you wish, take a bath or go to a gym.

How should I prepare for a spray tan?

Exfoliate before the treatment and shave or wax at least 2 days beforehand, do not use creams or oils beforehand, and skip perfume, moisturisers and make-up on the day of application. Wear dark, comfortable, loose-fitting clothes. See all preparation tips.

How long does a spray tan last?

The tan lasts about 7–12 days and fades evenly as the outer layer of the skin naturally exfoliates. Moisturising your skin with a body lotion helps it last longer. Before a big event we recommend tanning about 2–3 days in advance.

When can I shower after a spray tan?

Avoid baths, showers and strenuous exercise for at least 8 hours after application. After 8–10 hours, shower to remove the tanning preparation – then you can wear any clothes, take a bath or go to the gym.

Is spray tanning safe?
