Is the IBX System safe during pregnancy?

It is better not to have the IBX System treatment during pregnancy. At Easy Waxing, pregnancy and breastfeeding are contraindications to this nail treatment – even though the product works locally on the nail plate, we prefer to be cautious during this special time. IBX is a great way to rebuild your nails once pregnancy and breastfeeding are over.

Why we do not recommend IBX during pregnancy

IBX is a light-cured nail strengthener: the product penetrates the nail plate and is set with a lamp. Pregnancy brings major hormonal changes – the skin around your nails may be more sensitive, irritation or an allergic reaction is more likely, and many women react differently to the scent of cosmetics. As it is impossible to predict how your body will respond, we do not perform IBX during this time.

How to care for your nails during pregnancy

Weak, brittle nails are common during pregnancy. Instead of IBX, you can opt for simpler care:

trim and file your nails regularly so the tips do not split,
moisturise your hands with cream every day and your cuticles with nail oil,
wear gloves for cleaning and washing up,
ask your doctor about supplements and a diet that supports healthy nails.

If you would like to treat your hands at the studio, ask about a classic manicure – tell your beautician that you are pregnant, and if in doubt, check with your doctor first.

When to return to IBX

The best time to book an IBX treatment is after you have finished breastfeeding. The treatment strengthens the nail plate from within, so it works well for nails weakened after pregnancy or long-term hybrid styling. Your beautician will assess your nails and suggest how often to repeat the treatment.
