Cancer and hydrogen facial treatment. Can I do hydrogen facial with cancer?

Cancer and hydrogen facial treatment. Can hydrogen cleansing be performed during cancer treatment?

Cancer is one of the main contraindications for cosmetic procedures, including hydrogen cleansing. Due to the nature of cancer and the weakened state of the body, such treatments can pose a risk of complications and may negatively impact the course of treatment. The immune system of cancer patients is often weakened, which increases the risk of infections, skin irritation, and other adverse reactions. Additionally, some treatments can stimulate skin regeneration processes, which may be undesirable in cases of active cancer.

Skin during cancer therapy and hydrogen cleansing

During oncology treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or pharmacological therapy, the skin becomes particularly sensitive and prone to irritation. Therefore, even gentle procedures like hydrogen cleansing may be contraindicated. Moreover, cosmetics and active ingredients used during treatments could interact with cancer medications, potentially disrupting the treatment process.

Cosmetic procedures after oncology treatment

According to specialists, at least five years should pass after completing cancer treatment before undergoing cosmetic procedures, including hydrogen cleansing. This period is necessary for the body to fully recover and for the risk of cancer recurrence to be minimized. After this time, any decision to undergo treatment should be made in consultation with the patient’s oncologist and a cosmetologist who will assess the condition of the skin and overall health.

Alternatives

For individuals currently undergoing cancer treatment or who have recently completed therapy, there are alternative and safer skincare options. These may include gentle manual care using mild, hypoallergenic skincare products designed to maintain skin health without the risk of complications. Specialized skincare treatments for oncology patients often take into account specific needs, such as dryness, hypersensitivity, and a tendency toward inflammation.

In our opinion

In our opinion hydrogen cleansing cannot be performed during cancer treatment due to patient safety concerns. However, after completing therapy and the recommended recovery period, patients may return to cosmetic procedures, provided they consult with a specialist beforehand.
