What are the steps for applying Vinylux polish to toenails?

For a long-lasting, flawless, and chip-resistant Vinylux pedicure, following the correct application technique is essential. The Vinylux system is unique because it does not require a base coat, and its top coat cures with natural light.

Step 1: Preparing the Nails

  1. Cleanse and soak the feet – Soak your feet in warm water with bath salts or mild soap for 5-10 minutes to soften the skin.
  2. Remove dead skin – Use a foot file or scrub to smooth the heels and skin around the nails.
  3. Trim and file the nails – Cut the nails straight across to prevent ingrown nails, then smooth the edges with a nail file.
  4. Push back the cuticles – Gently push back the cuticles using an orange stick or a metal cuticle pusher. If needed, use a softening solution.
  5. Degrease the nail plate – Wipe each nail with CND ScrubFresh or another nail cleanser to remove any oils and ensure better polish adhesion.

Step 2: Applying Vinylux Nail Polish

Do not use a base coat! Vinylux has a self-adhering formula, eliminating the need for a base layer.

  1. Apply the first thin coat of Vinylux polish – Cover the entire nail evenly, avoiding contact with the cuticles.
  2. Let it dry for about 2 minutes before applying the second coat.
  3. Apply a second thin coat of Vinylux polish to achieve full coverage and vibrant color.
  4. Wait another 2 minutes for the polish to dry slightly.

Step 3: Applying Vinylux Top Coat

  1. Apply one coat of Vinylux Top Coat over the entire nail surface.
  2. Ensure you cap the free edge of the nail to prevent chipping.
  3. Let it dry for 10-15 minutes. The top coat hardens when exposed to natural light, making the nails more resistant to damage over time.

Step 4: Moisturizing and Protection

  • After the polish is fully dry (around 30 minutes), apply cuticle oil (e.g., CND SolarOil) and a moisturizing foot cream.
  • Avoid tight shoes for the first hour to prevent dents in the polish.
  • Try not to soak your feet for a few hours after application to allow the top coat to reach its full durability.

Easy Waxing recommendation

A Vinylux pedicure requires proper nail preparation, two coats of polish, and a top coat, but no base coat or UV lamp. Since it dries quickly and strengthens with natural light, it is a convenient and long-lasting alternative to traditional and gel polishes.
