Can a high school student undergo waxing?
Blog BackTable of Contents:

Waxing is a popular method of hair removal known for its long-lasting effects and relatively simple procedure. Although it is mostly associated with adults, the question arises more often: Can a high school student, aged 15-19, use this method? In this article, we will discuss the key aspects of waxing in the context of age and the needs of young girls.
Waxing and age – does it matter?
The decision for a teenager to opt for waxing can stem from various reasons, both aesthetic and emotional. One of the main advantages of this method is its long-lasting effects. Waxing removes hair along with the roots, causing the new hair to grow back much slower compared to shaving. For students who want to avoid daily shaving, this is a big advantage, as the results of waxing can last from three to even five weeks. Another benefit is the reduction in hair growth. Regular waxing weakens the hair structure, which over time leads to thinning and weakening of the hair. For teenagers dealing with excessive hair growth, this can be highly beneficial. Aesthetics and confidence are additional arguments in favor of this method. During puberty, many girls struggle with insecurities related to their appearance, including excessive hair on their legs, arms, or face.
Does waxing have drawbacks?
Waxing has many benefits, but it also has another side 🙂 which is worth knowing before going for the treatment. First of all, it's important to note that soft wax waxing is not completely painless. This isn’t a problem for almost all of our clients, but it’s worth mentioning to avoid surprises 🙂 Pain, of course, is subjective. Fortunately, in all our many years of operation, no one has ever discontinued the procedure because of it. Additionally, teenage skin can sometimes be more sensitive to irritation, and after waxing, redness, bumps, or swelling may appear (but not necessarily), especially if the skin is delicate. It’s also worth considering potential allergic reactions to the ingredients in the wax. That’s why it's a good idea to perform an allergy test before the procedure.
How to prepare a teenager for waxing?
If a high school student decides to undergo waxing, it’s important to prepare properly for the procedure to minimize the risk of irritation and make the process as comfortable as possible. First and foremost, it's essential to take care of the skin before the treatment. The day before waxing, it’s advisable to do a gentle exfoliation, which helps remove dead skin cells and makes hair removal easier. On the day of the procedure, avoid applying lotions or oils to the skin, as this will help the wax adhere better to the hair. It's also important that the hair is the appropriate length—0.5 cm. It's also a good idea to consult an experienced beautician who will explain the procedure and offer practical advice, which can help ease any concerns. Additionally, some beauty salons may require parental consent for minors, so it's a good idea to check the policy of the place you plan to visit.
